CO-ARTISTIC DIRECTORS

Jackie Lopez (aka Miss Funk) and Leigh Foaad (aka Breeze-Lee) are the co-founders and artistic leaders of Versa-Style Street Dance Company, one of the nation’s leading Hip Hop and Street Dance theater companies. Since founding Versa-Style in 2005, they have been at the forefront of bringing the artistry, cultural depth, and innovation of street dance to concert stages across the United States and internationally.

Under their leadership, Versa-Style has developed a powerful body of work that merges street dance traditions with theatrical storytelling, earning national recognition for its dynamic performances and cultural authenticity. The company has been presented at premier festivals and venues including the San Francisco International Hip Hop DanceFest, The J.U.i.C.E. Hip Hop Dance Festival, and the Illadelph Legends Festival, founded by Rennie Harris. Their productions have toured nationally and internationally, including cultural exchange performances in India and a multi-city tour of Israel through the U.S. Embassy’s cultural envoy program.

Their acclaimed works—including Feel Our Rhythm, Furious Beauty, Box of Hope, and Freemind Freestyle—have helped elevate street dance within the concert dance world while remaining deeply rooted in community and culture. Supported by the National Dance Project Production Grant from the New England Foundation for the Arts, Freemind Freestyle toured nationally through 2025 and was presented at renowned venues such as Jacob’s Pillow and The Joyce Theater.

Beyond the stage, Jackie and Leigh are influential educators who have spent more than a decade teaching at the UCLA Department of World Arts and Cultures/Dance, helping expand the presence of Hip Hop and Street Dance within higher education.

Respected globally within the street dance community, they are also active participants and judges in major Hip Hop and street dance battle events, uniquely bridging the worlds of concert dance, community practice, and global culture.

In recognition of their leadership and artistic impact, they received the Dance Teacher Magazine Honorary Award (2024) and the Western Arts Alliance Leadership Award (2025).

In 2026, Jackie and Leigh premiered Versa-Style's newest full-length production, Tribute: Guardians of Street Dance, at the Long Beach Carpenter Center. The production was met with an overwhelming response from audiences and the street dance community, with many pioneering artists and cultural leaders, including Damita Jo Freeman,  Buddha Stretch & Toni Basil in attendance. Their support affirmed Versa-Style's commitment to preserving and sharing the history and legacy of street dance with authenticity and integrity. Jackie and Leigh look forward to bringing Tribute: Guardians of Street Dance to The Broad Stage in Santa Monica, California in March 2027 and to continuing to tour and share this landmark production with audiences nationwide.
